Our Video Content

Welcome to Raistlin van Spronsen, a travel-based YouTube channel covering some very unique topics.  Through my videos, I combine my love of travel with my many interests. These include transit, aviation, hotels, events and much, much more.

Since establishing my YouTube original channel in July 2012, I’ve had the privilege of sharing my adventures through hundreds of uploads.

Transit

Trains, buses, passenger ferries, transit is about getting from point A to point B. While most communities will have a bus network to get residents to work, school, appointments and errands, larger cities will also have trains (LRT, subway systems, automated trains) to move large amounts of people.

Some transit networks I cover on my channel include; BC Transit (my local transit agency) Translink (Vancouver SkyTrain), Edmonton Transit Service (Edmonton LRT)

Aviation

As someone who loves to travel, I’ve traveled by different methods over the years; bus, road, air and rail. My favourite method of traveling has to be by air.

I am a self-described airline nerd, and I love shooting videos of travel by air.  My trip report playlist documents dozens of my trips all over the Western Canada. My love for aviation dates back to my first flight in 2005 from Vancouver South Terminal (at Vancouver International Airport) to the small remote airport in rural Northeastern British Columbia in a city called Dawson Creek.

The lone flight attendant made the trip so worth it and even getting to peek inside the cockpit after the flight was pretty awesome

Hotels & Vacation Rentals

Hotels are play a major role in the travel industry, as we all need somewhere to sleep during our trips. While I don’t have any yet, I do plan on doing hotel reviews in the future. These reviews will review the property as a whole, a focus on the room itself and the experience.

These won’t be limited to hotels, but also motels, high-end resorts, Airbnb/VRBO (short term rentals) and any accommodation (with the exception of family members for privacy reasons)

Events

Dawson Creek is full of excitement and fun events. Annual events range from our annual Dawson Creek Music Festival, Summer Show N’ Shine, Dawson Creek Exhibition & Stampede, many different Rotary Club events and local community groups hosting events.

However our events isn’t limited to local events, if I am traveling and there is an event happening in the location I am in, you can be sure I will be checking it out.

I attend a wide range of events from parade, music festivals, classic car shows (our city hosts one of the largest classic car shows in Northern BC) rodeos, fairs and exhibitions (I’ve been to the Dawson Creek Exhibition & Stampede, Calgary Stampede, and the Pacific National Exhibition)

Trip Reports

While some YouTube channels showcase the actual trip (after arriving at the final destination) myself have drawn interest from a fellow YouTube travel Channels; The Elevator Channel, Jeb Brooks, Noel Phillips to name a few who actually document the travel experience from departure to arrival. This is where my Trip Reports shine.

I aim to create videos that captivate the journey from the shot out of my window that morning to arriving at the final destination after a day of travel. The whole aim for my Trip Reports videos is simply that traveling isn’t just for the ultra wealthy. In fact I cut a significant amount of my travel budget by staying with family or friends and you can still get a very memorable trip out of it!

For example when I visit Vancouver, I stay with my aunt and I always enjoy talking about what I did that day over a homecooked meal at the end of the day, it’s honestly a way better than eating at a restaurant to finish off the day and unwind before bed
